A modern functioning city may reflect characteristics of a living organism. That organism is brought to life by the citizens within its heart. Citizens keep the organism alive, working within its many and varrying 'Organs' which in turn support and give life to the city. These Organs, can be anything from a office building to a cathedral, to a house, to a retail store. The city is only made alive by the citizens who maintain the varying organs, each giving support in different ways to one another.
Citizens also have certain criteria that must be met in order to maintain their different duties. Businesses must be available to needs, banks must be alive to maintain currency, transport must be available to relocate individuals from their homes to their work. There becomes a natural balance between the different rolls of the organism, each playing an integral part.
Parks, Nature strips, Recreational areas and Green spaces are often overlooked for being a seperate from this organism, however it is arguable that they attribute more value to a larger amount of people then any other organism within the city.
it is also arguable that humans are born with an innate attraction to natural things, however due to current society, it is impeccable that we learn to survive within a built environment. Green spaces act as a compromise between the two contrasting needs. Architecture should work to support this network, not to destroy it.
They are an interactive point. health quality, immerging call for this for sustainable course. even people that don't come to the ark. it enhancest he health quality of the city. the location of the park being right next to the hoispital, increaseing the park is too small for surrent.
When a green space is affected by a proposed design, it is important for the designer to 'give back' that space in an equal or advanced form to help keep this balance. Green spaces are of no less value then any other part of the city and play a vital roll in its makeup.
Below are some examples and points of inspiration where the architect has well informed nature within the built environment.
